ABOUT US

christmas act of kindness

In September 2012 our typical life as a family changed forever. Dawn was diagnosed with stage 3c breast cancer and a new journey began. For the next year we endured the schedule of surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation and complications. We were blessed by many family, friends, and collegues with their kindness and generosity.

Adjusting to a "new normal" after cancer treatment was a bit more than we all had anticipated.  Dawn wanted something new to focus on that allowed flexibility due to her new side effects and limitations.

Prior to the cancer, Dawn had been a successful teacher and administrator. She loved her job, students, staff, and family with a flair for details and creativity.  After much brainstorming, Well Wishes Project was created due to our families appreciation of others kindness, Dawn's love of children, and our new beginning after breast cancer.

Going through cancer treatment has made all of us more aware of the little moments in life because it's those memories, that when things get rough, help keep one strong.  Everyone deserves to feel special and remembered.

Individuals or families who are going through hardship often will shy away from the little extras that can often mean a lot and lift their hopes. We partner with area groups, missions and food pantires that help provide basic needs such as food and clothing; and provide little extras for birthdays, holidays and sometimes just because.
